SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Despite an unsuccessful 2012 bid to replace Councilwoman Sherri Lightner, businessman Ray Ellis announced Thursday that he will once again seek a seat in the San Diego City Council.
The 57-year-old Ellis, who lost to Lightner in the general election despite outpointing her in the June 2012 primary, stated that city government should focus on customer service above all else.
“Parks should be clean, ball fields should be well-maintained and libraries should be open at convenient times for families,” Ellis said. “These may sound like little things to some, but not to me. To me, they make San Diego better for all of us.”
Ellis currently serves on the board of the Balboa Park Conservatory, the Lux Art Institute, and the Equinox Center, and is backed by Mayor Kevin Faulconer and former councilman Tony Young.
