Subject: [MKTG] Guess Who Is Running for Sherri Lightner’s Office?
Because you’ve been one of Sherri’s biggest supporters over the years, we’re sharing some big news with you first: I’m running for San Diego City Council District 1 to succeed Sherri as your representative.
Unfortunately Sherri cannot run again because of term limits. Although I had never considered running for public office before, I’ve decided to throw my hat in the ring because I feel so strongly about continuing Sherri’s work as an independent, effective voice for our neighborhoods.
I pledge to continue Sherri’s work on San Diego’s first-ever comprehensive water policy, ensuring a reliable water supply for our children’s future. Sherri has worked to build a long-term strategy to create quality jobs, implement regulatory reforms, cut red tape and improve our economy. I will continue her initiatives to close the jobs/skills gap and cement San Diego’s status in the high-tech, bio-tech, blue-tech and cyber-tech sectors. Sherri has increased library and recreation center hours and programs, improved public safety, and resurfaced miles of roads and filled thousands of potholes in District One, while preventing over-development and protecting our coastline and canyons. You can expect exactly the same commitment from me.
I hope you will support me so I can continue Sherri’s tireless efforts—working for you to build a better San Diego.
If you currently are registered to vote in District 1 and would be willing to sign my petition to run for City Council, please reply to this email with your contact information. The deadline to collect signatures to be eligible to run is next Wednesday, March 9th. (Note: Actually the petitions are due on my birthday, March 10th, but we should have the signatures in by the day before.)
Thank you for your past support. I look forward to earning your vote in June.
Best Regards,
Bruce
